Hair Tip Monday: Coconut Milk Hair Benefits

Hmm. Coconut milk? It wasn't the first I was hearing about it being used to condition natural tresses but it wasn't until my good friend Sonya told me how amazing it was for her hair; that I decided I definitely needed to research this.

Coconut milk helps to:

  • restore dry/weak hair
  • soothes the scalp
  • adds softness
  • stops breakage
  • prevents premature hair aging
  • boost growth

What makes it work?
Great question! Coconut is packed with nutrients such as fiber, fats, proteins, vitamins (A, C, E) and lactic acid. Fiber isn't only beneficial to maintaining healthy bowels but also maintaining healthy hair. Fiber is suggested to assist in preventing hair loss while good fats (polysaturated fats) keep the hair moisturized, shiny and the scalp lubricated. Proteins, as we know strength the hair and vitamins partner with fats to moisturize, add shine, maintain hair's colour and also boost growth. Lactic acid present in coconut replenishes hair's elasticity, smooths the cuticle and enhances the hair's ability to absorb restoring ingredients. Sounds amazing right?

Consider adding coconut milk to your regimen for softer, shinier and noticeable healthier tresses!
