Do Your Own: Strengthening Moisture Mask

What you'll need:
1-2 ripe Bananas
Small piece of Pumpkin
4 tbsp of coconut oil
essential oil for scent (optional)
moisturizing conditioner (optional)

1. Remove the green skin from the pumpkin and boil until softened.
2. After the pumpkin has become soft add both the bananas and pumpkin into a blender and puree.
3. Add coconut oil and essential oil.
4. Thoroughly combine into moisturizing conditioner.
5. Apply to hair for a moisture infused condition.

Mess Level: Moderate

Benefits: Bananas soften, protects hair elasticity, adds shine, hydrates and repairs sun damaged hair. Pumpkin has vitamin A that aids in scalp health, potassium may contribute to regrowth and moisturizes dry hair. Coconut oil reduces protein erosion, improves moisture retention, softens and penetrates the hair's cortex.

I recommend pureeing this because you'll have less pumpkin bits left back in the hair as opposed to if you had just used a fork (trust me I know from experience). Another tip is to add this puree to a conditioner (preferably a moisturizing one so as to have the balance of both protein and moisture) of choice; provides easier application and rinse out. For this wash day I didn't combine with conditioner. I normally use this as a pre-shampoo treatment so as to prevent the experience of dry hair after using a sulfate shampoo. I do not rinse out the pre-poo, I'd simply wet the section with the treatment still in and add the shampoo. This treatment makes my hair feel very very soft and also defines my curl pattern. For those who are not too fond of scents, the natural fragrance of this might not greet you too well so add a scent or essential oil of choose.

If you'll be using the mixture without adding any conditioner here's another tip:
For more strength than moisture: Use the 2 bananas- Bare in mind that you may have to follow this with a moisturizing conditioner.
For a balance of strength and moisture: Use 1 banana
For more moisture than strength: Use 1 banana but a larger portion of pumpkin.

Happy deep conditioning
God bless you
